No spoilers! This book was a really pleasant surprise. Walking into it blind was a great experience, it was like nothing I've ever read before. The characters are complex and the plot, although it could've been simple, is incredibly well thought out and meaningful. I do have to say though, I found it really confusing at times, and it was a bit hard to grasp. There was a lot of "Wait, when did that happen? Did that even happen???" Even when reading with full attention. The wiki's description of the lore helped though. Aside from that,  because I went into the novel blind and hopeful, I was not expecting it to get this dark. It is not for the weak hearted, so please keep that in mind. I still rate it very high, and consider it a very important read! As many describe it, this book is the blueprint to the savagery in humanity's blood.
