Monster girlfriend! Monster girlfriend! Monster girlfriend!

This book is much improved from its predecessor. And knowing some things that I now know about its history, its existence is HILARIOUS.

I love Skade. I love when she just does not get human morality or emotions. I kind of wish she’d been more feral as the book went on, but that’s very much my own personal preference.

There’s still problems with Arren’s wildly inconsistent motivations, and because we’re very in his head, the inconsistencies are a bit jarring. Although it’s definitely better than in the first book. I also wish that we’d seen Skandar’s improving vocabulary and attitude on page instead of happening during a montage.

That being said, I like the increasing complexity of the story, and if I find the third book, I’d consider reading it
