I thoroughly enjoyed this story of a woman who practiced as a doctor in China in the 15th century. The vivid descriptions of foot-binding and the attendant health problems were a bit much for my weak stomach, but I understand why they were necessary. It's impossible to understand the lives of women in China at that time without this information.
There were some reveals that felt a little out of left field, but on the whole I really liked the book.
