As an autistic person, I nearly DNFed. Such an awful representation of autism, with so many slurs it made my heart hurt. And whats funny is there are about 3 other characters in this book series that are DEFINITELY autistic but do not fit the stereotyped perception of ASD (including astrid!!!!) and so that is just ignored and the only confirmed representation is this “oh my god my brother is such a burden to everyone on earth”. I’m trying to tell myself you know it was 2008, theyre 14, its part of the plot. But seriously, why does Michael Grant hate autism so much? Its give RFK Jr
