There was a lot liked about this book, and some I didn’t like. I especially didn’t like the ending. This is a book about life after loss. It opens with Ben’s suicide note to his fiancé Anna. After his death, Anna recklessly decides to take his sailboat and sail from Florida to Trinidad, alone, on a trip they had planned to take together. She quickly realizes she does not have the skills and has no business attempting this journey by herself. Enter Keane: a charming Irishman battling his own demons and mourning a different kind of loss. He agrees to help her in exchange for free passage to Puerto Rico. I liked how two broken people could come together and help one another heal. I also loved the sailing and the descriptions of the islands they visited and the people they meet along the way. It reminded me a lot of my own extended travels in my 20s and made me nostalgic for that time. This was a quick read and I wish the author had gone a little deeper with the characters. They fell a little flat for me. The ending of this book was irritating. But if you like a good travel romance, and you have any interest in sailing or the Caribbean, it’s worth the read.
