Orientalism by Edward W. Said

5.0

One of my favorite literary theories as I find it to be the most fascinating and most underrated.

Multiple times while reading, I was like “wait a minute,” as certain situations had me recall readings I had to do in my literature courses and modern instances. Readings such as Frankenstein, Robinson Crusoe, and Jane Eyre. All books that I have written scathing essays on their respective “oriental” themes.

Nevertheless, a really good read if you’re interested on the topic of orientalism especially the section on how Orientalism applies today.

Okay, once section I have to pull is on page 291 iirc, and that is how some Orientalist are disappointed on how the East isn’t as Orientalist as they imagine.
