This is a horror story about an authoritarian takeover and a woman whose husband, head of the teacher’s union, doesn’t come home from a peaceful rally. Then her son gets a letter about serving with the national military, her younger son is running wild, her daughter isn’t eating and she has a baby and elderly father to protect. It’s brutal. It’s vivid. It’s so well done that when the troops set up in her neighborhood, you can feel the house falling down around you.
