I think my favourite of Rooney's? I really enjoyed Ivan and Peter's relationship and how it was explored.
My minor criticism that romantic relationships in this book were slightly weaker due to not dealing with queerness despite wanting to explore unconventionality is admittedly biased.Peter's cishet crisis over wanting an unconventional relationship was slightly eye rolling but also very accurate to how a guy like that would react.
If it hadn't been for how much I liked Ivan and Peter's relationship, this probably would have impacted my rating more, but as it is I found it such a well-portrayed dynamic that the romance subplots were less important to me anyway.
