The story took a little while to get into, I am so glad I decided to push through because the more I got into it, the more I slowly liked it. Terah Shelton Harris does an excellent job taking you back and forth between the history of this family and where they each are in the present.

Everybody has a secret, but it isn’t necessarily what you expect. The core of this book is the dynamics of family, you learn how much a secret can trap a person. You’re thrown into the dynamics of the secrets we hide, what they do to a person, and how they affect all of the relationships around you.

In the end, the story for me had a core message to own who you are, to continue to move forward, and to understand that not everything is as it always seems. I liked this book very much once I got into it so if you pick this book and stick with it, I think you will find it is very worth it.
