It’s time to say goodbye to Sarah McLean’s Bareknuckle Bastards Series – one that I have really enjoyed – with its quirky, headstrong heroines and the men who fall on their knees to adore and protect them.
This last book; is of Grace, the Queen of the Underground, a fierce, loyal and strong woman who holds hr own with her brothers – even through the hell they had gone through as children!
Grace, is the only one who is alone right now; though she knows that the man, her childhood love, the “fake” Duke of Marwick is on her tail – but her confrontation at the start of the book makes her believe that he won’t come back for her anymore.
Ewan, is a man tormented; the only person for whom he has done everything for – is alive and well and wants nothing to do with him! But now that he knows that his Grace is alive; he will stop at nothing to get her back; even if she hates him. She needs to know how deep his feelings run for her and the secrets he had been keeping!
I really enjoyed this conclusion – Ewan and Grace’s angsty connection had me swallowing the book right up; even if there were times when there conversations or rather interactions seemed repetitive at times.
I also really wished that Devil, Whit and Ewan had way more interactions than they did – because throughout the book, it was heart – warming to read Ewan call them his brothers; even when he had thought that they had reneged on their promise to protect Grace.
This was a series I so thoroughly enjoyed – and I am so looking forward to whatever the author will greet us with next!
