The King of Crows by Libba Bray

3.0

Libba Bray is a master at ghost stories. My boyfriend and I were listening to the audiobook and he was surprised by how horrifying some scenes were. King of Crows is a mostly satisfying conclusion to the series, though at times it felt like Bray was picking and choosing who lived and who died. Isaiah simply choosing not to be dead felt weird and much too convenient, and Memphis attempting to make the bargain felt out of character since he KNEW what the risks were. I understand he was grieving and not thinking but we’re led to believe Memphis is smarter than that. Also I don’t understand WHY Jericho had to sacrifice himself- especially after a happy ending is set up for him after his romance with Lupe. I love this series so much, I’ve been with it since I was 15 (!! I’m 24 now! almost 10 years!) so of course I enjoyed my the world, the characters, and the overall writing but the plotting felt off in some places.

Also I’m convinced putting Evie in a clown costume for a chunk of the book was done for me specifically.
