You Didn't Hear This from Me: (Mostly) True Notes on Gossip
by Kelsey McKinney
funny
informative
reflective
medium-paced
This book just wasn’t what I was expecting though I have heard it recommended on at least two reading podcasts. Maybe I’m not the right audience. I have never listened to Normal Gossip. I have never seen Gossip Girl or even Mean Girls though I’m certainly aware of it. I have never seen any episode of Real Housewives. And maybe that’s why this book really did not hold my interest. Some Parts were very interesting. I don’t think I’m particularly in alignment with McKinney’s views on gossip but I respect her research and passion on the topic.
“But gossip can only really grow up to be one of two things: an urban legend or a conspiracy theory, or sometimes both.”
“We cannot know ourselves truly, madly, or deeply without gossip as a way to contextualize our space within the world.”
