How to Be an Epicurean: The Ancient Art of Living Well by Catherine Wilson

3.0

Seneca often refers to Epicurus and Catherine Wilson's book really help fill in the dark parts of the map. I thought her criticism of Stoicism didn't totally align with how I perceive it, but that's otherwise such a minor gripe. Very well written, well performed [audio]book.

I think maybe whereas Stoicism hit me hard, Epicureanism didn't only because I think at heart most of the way I think is that. In fact, it's fascinating to see how Epicureanism has totally shaped western secular thinking, and so much of what Wilson described seemed like common sense. That, of course, is precisely because of how influential Epicureanism has been.
