The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak

2.5

extremely exhausting writing style. i have an immense respect for the author for doing such an excessive research on her part (on several subjects, too), however she lacked the ability to put everything together nicely and neatly. the author, quite frankly, didn't have what it takes to pull it off. a very pathetic attempt to write in an "exquisite" manner. i felt as if I was physically wading through the forest of metaphors, biology facts, and historical notes. great ideas, but a rather poor execution.
