Pretty Boys Are Poisonous: Poems
by Megan Fox
dark
emotional
reflective
sad
fast-paced
I don't think this necessarily would have gotten published without Megan Fox's name on the cover. Many of the poems are fragments or feel like a first draft. The titles are amazing and sometimes better than the poems themselves.
However, I did appreciate playing with form (I've never read a book of poetry where the titles are all at the end of the poem) and really liked a handful of the poems. There's clearly a lot of raw emotion behind them all, and I'm sure it was hard for her to be this vulnerable.
Content warnings: all types of abuse from her partners throughout the collection; miscarriage (the two final poems only).
