[review copied over from my old goodreads]
i started this book unsure what to expect, with no knowledge about it other than that it was very popular and that the lady at the thrift store where i bought it said it was a very good book. i related to charlie really heavily throughout and overall just felt really connected to all the characters.
charlie’s relationships with, well, everyone in this book, are so interesting to me. the way he interacts with sam, with patrick, with mary elizabeth, with his siblings, with his parents, with the unknown person he writes these letters to. it all felt so real in a dizzying sort of way.
and the end, oh the end. i don’t want to say too much in fear of spoiling anything, but… wow!
i enjoyed this book more than i expected to.
