Het Duitse meisje by Armando Lucas Correa

3.0

Developed characters, inter-generational connections, WWII inspired by nugget of history, invoking sadness and despair but ends with hope and resilience.

I often think of a book by the way it makes me feel. I honestly picked this up wondering if I was getting tired of all the WWII inspired novels I've read or considered reading lately. Even though this seems like a well-worn path, quite quickly you find the characters and events were removed from Europe. The characters are still deeply impacted though they might be considered 'lucky' to be survivors.

I found myself drawn into their desolation but I liked how their was hope at the end with new generations.
