My poor heart. This was a novel that definitely got you thinking. I loved it with all my heart.
The stories of Maria,Anna,Nikos,Helen,Manolis,George and Sofia were heartbreaking. As someone who has visited Crete, I found myself picturing the story, and it unfolding in my mind like a movie. The cinematography of this novel is of another level. Thank you Victoria Hislop, for shedding light on an illness that marked Greece and many other countries around the world.
A small note: I definitely believe that this book is better read in Greek than in English. I can’t imagine having read it in English. I don’t think it would have had such an impact on me.
