Much like Interview With The Vampire, I've read this multiple times and have a different and better appreciation for it with each read. Same great storytelling, same compelling character development, same good writing. Maybe a little more of that emotional overwrought-ness, which got a little exhausting after a while, but one of the things I really enjoyed was that it took a character you already knew from the first novel, and told his story in a way that made you realize you didn't know him at all. I thought that the way the two stories were interwoven was pretty brilliant. You never get a feeling like "been there, done that." And it flows so naturally you never feel like it's contrived to hit some plot points. This is a great follow up and a great standalone book however you choose to read it.
