Oathbringer by Brandon Sanderson

4.0

Oathbringer was epic. I was a little worried about the series feeling without stakes considering that nearly everyone who is important to the narrative, be they good or bad, basically went super saiyan in the last book, or throughout this book.

The scope prevents this though. Whenever there is a breakthrough, there is a higher cost, or a higher big-bad, so the story never really feels like its getting away from you in that respect. I really enjoyed the enemies that became Radiants, particularly Szeth and Venli sub-plots throughout. They were some of the most interesting characters, and I'm glad they're coming over to team 'Super Saiyan Interesting People'.
