Missing Molly by Natalie Barelli

5.0

Little Molly saw who killed her family... and she won't let them find her.

When Rachel Holloway returns to work after a family vacation, she is informed that the small newspaper she works for is quickly going under. As a last-ditch effort to save the business, her boss takes a newer employee's suggestion to do an investigative podcast. With the popularity of these types of podcasts rising, it could be just what they need to boost engagement and save the business. They are also informed that they only have 8 weeks to turn things around, so Rachel and her coworkers are a little anxious about how things will work, and wonder what they could possibly investigate on last-minute notice. Rachel's boss then announces he already has the perfect case for them to investigate... the case of Missing Molly, a girl who disappeared over a decade ago after her family was brutally murdered. He doesn't want to investigate the murder- he wants to find Missing Molly. When Rachel hears this, the room begins to close in on her and she desperately tries throwing other ideas out there, but everyone else is excited to find Molly Forster. This is bad news for Rachel because, well... she IS Molly Forster, and being found is a death sentence.
I discovered this audiobook by accident while looking up an old song on Spotify. Who knew Spotify had audiobooks? I sure didn't! I began listening to Missing Molly while showering, doing chores, and riding in the car. I was instantly hooked from the first chapter and was eager to listen to more of the story whenever I had a chance. This is my second audiobook ever, and interestingly enough, by the same author as the first audiobook I have ever enjoyed. Natalie Barelli did such an amazing job with this story. The characters and plot are well written and I loved the twists and turns along the way. It was so interesting to read about Rachel/Molly's history and what she had to do to survive. The narrator was perfect for the story, and sent shivers up my spine when voicing the "villians." I highly recommend this book to thriller lovers in audiobook or print form, but the audiobook is really an amazing listening experience!
