On These Black Sands by Vanessa Rasanen

5.0

On These Black Sands is a pirate lovers dream. With a duel perspective, we switch between Declan, a young pirate captain searching for an important item that could change the fate of the entire Aisling Sea, and Aoife, a girl on the run from the only life she has known. (We also get a few Cait chapters, but the main focus' were Declan and Aoife).

This book drew me right in and got me excited to be in a new world. The writing style is very easy and casual, and the banter between characters was everything. I found all the characters likeable, at least the ones you were supposed to like, and the "villains" of the story were well written. There was enough action to keep you engaged while also having the lulls for world and character building, which is something I always look for in stories.

If you are looking to start a new adventure on the high seas with banter, multiple plots that are well written, and a cliffhanger to boot, this one is for you!
