Dear Data by Giorgia Lupi, Maria Popova, Stefanie Posavec

4.0

Incredible premise, beautiful drawings of data.

I did have hopes for this that were not met.

1) I wished the data drawings were more representative of the data, using illustration to convey additional meaning. For example, the one about music succeeded more because you could see it was about music! Or doorways. Some of the data visualization was too abstract and too dependent on the legend

2) I wanted to see more personality and warmth in the friendship between these two people. I would have been interested in more writing about how they felt about the data, what it was like to collect data, and the people behind the numbers. Connecting data to a beautiful story is something I am interested in, so part of the reason I read this book.

Also not sure I liked the giant sized coffee table book format. Hard to read before bed... sooo heavy!
