What I Was Doing While You Were Breeding: A Memoir by Kristin Newman

4.0

I loved this quirky title and premise and given it was a short, quick read, I decided to give it a whirl. I simply adored this memoir. This is a sitcom comedy writer's (for some rather popular shows)description of her travels in her late 20's and throughout most of her 30's. Basically she had 2 long term boyfriends, was a bit of a commitment-phobe and not ready to settle down and instead after both relationships ended, decided to travel on her down time from writing(it starts with her traveling with friends but she ultimately starts making solo trips, which is something I would LOVE to do). Some may judge her for some of her flings abroad(although one became a bit of an obsession meaning she was really hung up on would they ever make it a real thing), but you know what, she was living her life the way she wanted to and made no apologies for it. I admire her gusto, her zest for life and adventures. Ultimately too, there is a happy ending and the thing I liked the most, throughout all her adventures, she truly found herself and what she wanted from life (and what she didn't). I definitely need to visit some of her travels (I found a website with some of her travel photos and they look AMAZING). I didn't give it five stars because she hints at the end about her first European trip with her first boyfriend and wants to keep those things private, uhh she shouldn't have mentioned that because now I am curious even if she wants to hold those memories close to her. haha I highly recommend this book for those who are looking to find themselves, who love traveling, or who like reading memoirs.
