I was so excited to be back in Avonlea with my favorite characters!
While this one didn’t have quite the same amount of magic/nostalgia as book one imo, I still thoroughly enjoyed it.
I loved watching Anne grow up — her character development feels so realistic — and overcome new challenges, create new friendships and find new kindred spirits.
The characters really do make the book. Anne has a knack for befriending people others view as strange, different, or unfriendly, and I will always be a huge fan of that. As someone who has often felt a little “different,” the camaraderie and acceptance and imagination that Anne shares with her newfound friends warmed my heart.
I won’t lie, I was really hoping the romance would progress more in this book (iykyk, I’ve watched the movies but this is my first time reading the books) but I will have to be patient and hope it picks up in book three!
I highly recommend this series for all the cozy, charming goodness and imaginative wit you could want. I’m really excited to read book three eventually.
Favorite characters: Davy, Miss Lavendar, Paul, and Anne of course
