Last Summer in the City
by Gianfranco Calligarich
4.5
This book was a combination of Fellini's film 8 1/2, and Camus' "The Stranger".
The Italians have a kind of nonchalant nihilism that is intriguing and addictive, not quite existentialist deadpan-ism, but a similar laissez-faire melodrama. I'm not sure what I loved about this, but I did love it (and that's enough).
