allthaterricka 's review for:
Badlands
by Douglas Preston, Lincoln Child
medium-paced
I received an ARC of this from the publisher and didn’t realize this was book 5 in the series (eek!) so keep that context in mind when reading this review.
This was an okay mystery/thriller set in a unique setting featuring some cool nuggets of Indigenous and American history. I’m loving the uptick in books with cult vibes but this one hit a little close to home as a current PhD student.
Outside of the cult vibes and the history this wasn’t pretty memorable to me and maybe that’s because I started in the middle (or end?) of this series. I did enjoy the mixture of history and mystery/thriller and will give book one a shot.
