this book seemed interesting when i had first heard of it, but i suppose not many books that have been built up in the mind of the reader can live up to their hype. the book was alright, nothing too special in any facet (hence the 3 stars). give it a read if you have time to kill.

the plot was interesting, but many other books with more simple premises have been executed better. the characters were bland. i didn't care much for either of the main characters (which i assume was the entire point of the 2 stories in one gimmick). Pete was an endearing side character, and well, Jake is dead now so who cares (i felt that it was a bit harsh to kill him off). the romance between the clones was strange, especially the part when 72 got all pissy about lyra not being a clone. i guess you cant expect much emotional maturity from a lab generated clone.

the main characters weren't the best. Gemma was wayyy too self-deprecating about her weight, a bit annoying at times. i suppose that was the authors way of making the reader empathise with Gemma, but i think it was in poor taste to have a fat character go 'uwu im not skinny enough' (not verbatim). Lyra was quite robotic so i dont really have any thoughts about her.
