Sawyer
by Jessica Peterson
Sawyer’s story starts off at Cash’s bachelor weekend and a honky tonk, where Sawyer and Ava a literally thrown together courtesy of her sister. The chemistry is instant and after burning up the dancefloor Sawyer and Ava have an incredibly deliciously spicy night together in his penthouse suite.
Fast forward a few months and Sawyer is reintroduced to Ava at a barn raising on the farm she is now working at as a barrel racing coach. Wyatt and Sally have been desperate to introduce Sawyer to Ava as they both have 3-year-old daughters. I loved the cute moments the daughters Ella (Yella) and June (Junie) brought to this story. Their instant friendship was adorable, as was their deadpan sassiness that only a 3-year-old can deliver.
I really enjoyed this story, there is no 3rd act breakup (YAY!) but there is a conflict that needs working through.
Sawyer is the perfect gentleman and helps Ava rediscovered herself post a horrible marriage with a controlling man. There is a fabulous “who did this to you” scene which is done perfectly. And he calls her “Pretty Girl” which absolutely made me melt when reading it.
Whilst this single parent isn’t my favourite trope, I really did enjoy how Jessica wrote this. This book is a love letter to single parents and highlights just how hard it is to be one. It’s very relatable and realistic to the challenges of raising toddlers.
This is a five start read for me, and I really enjoyed it. We also get a tasty snippet of what possibly may be Duke’s story and I can’t wait!
I received this book as an ARC read and would like to thank Jessica Peterson and Valentine PR for the privilege.
