My main problems with the book are how it brushes off Remo's behavior and Serfenia's family. He does and says some problematic stuff that makes me question his already questionable morals. Serefina is a victim of Stockholm syndrome. She is 19 years old (the same age as me), a year out of high school, and solely dependent on her family. It makes sense that she tries to romanticize and downplay her kidnapping. Her family is not the villain; they were there for her every step of the way, and she leaves them for a man, from whom she can never talk to them again. That could never be me. I am glad she got to speak with Samuel in the end. I could understand if her family was abusive or something, but they were not. She did not even say goodbye to her mom. Anyways, that's all, folks.
