Absolutely precious. A joy. Incredibly relatable as an ex-catholic who resonates with lesbian identity and even had a brief stint at private school, but there is also so much in there for everyone: queer joy, familial relationships, rom com vibes, lovable characters, a great sibling dynamic, discussions of culture and connecting with one’s culture, calling out racism and homophobia without question, confidence, and self acceptance.
(Also, totally a side note, but I find it refreshing that the main character knows she’s pretty. So much of this book is refreshing. An honest & meaningful YA rom com. I wish little me had gotten to read this!)

Graphic: Religious bigotry, Bullying, Homophobia, Outing, and Racism
Moderate: Deportation, Suicidal thoughts, and Self harm
Minor: Police brutality
A secondary character is hospitalized for suicidal thoughts. It’s handled well, just a heads up for anyone who may appreciate that content warning! <3
