Book and Dagger: How Scholars and Librarians Became the Unlikely Spies of World War II by Elyse Graham

adventurous dark informative inspiring mysterious tense medium-paced

Academic types recruited into the war effort—yes please. Padding your anecdotes with the book equivalents of reality show re-enactments—no thanks. That down side was definitely annoying when it popped up (and it was often) but overall I enjoyed BOOK AND DAGGER.  Putting the “intelligence” into what would become the CIA, professors and librarians recruited during WW II redefined the secret side of our spying and security efforts. The pages are filled with interesting characters and the parts they played—not super dynamic but a fun read in a cozy armchair way.
