This book felt more like a collection of short stories rather than a book. They're all about the same family, but each chapter is a different person, some from the past, some from the present. Some of the chapters definitely worked better than others. The last chapter was utterly confusing and actually seemed unnecessary. It didn't seem to connect with the rest of the chapters.
