5.0

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Obsessed. There's nothing I would change because it was perfection (must read + reread)
SPICE: 0.5: one to two lightly described, mostly fade to black

Luke Rosen, regretful of his role as chief of police, meets Scarlett Marks on a fateful night marked by bloodshed. Now, she resides under his roof due to his duty to serve and protect. Scarlett challenges Luke's ordered life, defying his commands and disregarding the danger posed by a motorcycle gang. Despite her defiance, Luke finds himself drawn to Scarlett's strength, courage, and beauty. To keep her safe, Luke faces a difficult choice: uphold his values as a cop at the risk of Scarlett's survival or defy protocol to shield the woman who has captured his heart.

Oh the growth oh the healing this book was ultimate perfection in my eyes. We got to see Luke fall in love with someone he never planned to let in. While we got to see Scarlett heal her relationship with her sister and herself. Luke was there to help her build her confidence and given her the strength and safety she needs to heal. The plot had me absolutely GRIPPED and I loved the forced proximity element that it has.

Tropes: forced proximity, small town, romantic suspense, witness protection
Triggers: domestic abuse, suicide mentions
