We Are the Ants by Shaun David Hutchinson
5.0
So this was incredible. I read like the entire second half of this in an evening. The prose is sparse without being miserable, the themes are well-handled, and the plot is meticulously thought out. I wouldn't say that everything is wrapped up neatly in a bow, because that would go against the central ideology behind this book: life is not a narrative, people are complex and undefinable, and you don't always get the answers you want. One of the best books I've read this year.
