This book took me on a magical, scientific journey through history. After the first book, I was eager to see where Matthew and Diana ended up, and Miss Harkness did not disappoint. I wish that the magic had been a bit more of a focus while in the past, but the trade off was more character development, which is always worthwhile.
The secondary characters introduced in this book were intriguing, and the complex relationships made this a compelling read. I would say that there are many important plot points that progress the story in this book, but the characters are what makes this book shine.
This was a good mid-point of the Matthew/Diana trilogy, it was better than the first, and I look forward to seeing how it wraps up in the next book.
