God of Pain: Special Edition Print by Rina Kent
4.0
I think I may be delirious because I enjoyed reading this book so much. At this point, idk if it’s just whiplash from how bad [b:God Of Malice|61324702] was, that anything in comparison is the greatest piece of literature ever written.
The first half of this book was absolute chef's kisses, I couldn't believe what my eyes were reading—it felt too good to be true. The second half wasn't as good, I just had higher expectations for the whole island part, but we got there in the end.
Don’t get me wrong, the writing and the plot were still recyclable, silly, and cheesy with over the top twists and possessive, territorial alphaholes, but isn’t this why we read Rina Kent?..
Experiencing Annika as the one to initially pursue and pine after Creighton was a breath of fresh air, breaking away from the formulaic dynamic we’re used to with the other couples.
Mostly, what made me like Annika and Creighton’s story was the consentual nature of their relationship, well, their sex life. I just can’t get behind anything non-con/dub-con.
I’m living for all the crumbs of Niko & Bran and Ava & Eli. I just know he’s Jeremy level unhinged and I can’t wait to read more about him. I’m crossing my fingers Ava won’t be a disappointment like Glyndon.
