I think it says a lot about an author who is able to put as much science-y stuff in a book (I did not understand 80% of it) and still able to make it entertaining to people who... well aren't in NASA. 

I think it shows a type of intelligence that not a lot of people have. 

I cracked up throughout the book. 

Also, I loved the ending. None of the fluff at the end going back to earth with a welcome parade. The book was about the mission to Mars, that is it
