Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice

3.0

I feel like it has been awhile since I wrote a review and I need to start doing this again.

This is one of those books I have been meaning to read forever and I am glad I finally did. I thought it was a unique story, especially the way it is told, for its time and it is fun to read something so iconic in terms of vampire stories.

I read it quickly and it kept me entertained for the most part. The reason I gave it 3 and not 4 stars is there were times towards the end where Louis' tortured diatribes were just getting overly long. "It was as if... " "I couldn't feel..." blah blah blah feelings, emotions, etcetera. I understand he is tortured but common. Also at some points the description of the scenery for me just dragged. Other than that I really did enjoy this book and am glad that I read it. I will have to watch the movie now.

Also damn you Anne Rice because thanks to the last sentence of the book I will need to read the sequel to see what happens!
