Don't believe the genre list. If you expect mystery and thriller, there will be none. It's more about women, bad international marriage, mental and physical abuse, immigration, and family.

I usually like such stories, but nothing clicked this time. I don't know if it was the narrator, but I really struggled to finish. I was even thinking about DNFing, but I was still curious about what really happened to Nicole (and was disappointed in the end).
Got better in the second half, but more is needed to like this book.

I didn't like the switching between now and then and couldn't like any character. I was thinking between two and three stars. But the story itself wasn't that bad; just the delivery didn't impress me. So, I ended up giving it three.
