I nearly stopped reading it because the main character just had things happen to him and didn't propel anything forward. Glancing at other people's reviews, however, indicated that was actually part of the plot and there was some character growth. It didn't seem clear that was the point, but it helped once the character realized he was like that. It's not an amazing book, but it was interesting enough to finish. The romance felt contrived. Not a bad book, but I doubt I'll read it again.
