I knew about halfway into this book that it was going to be a new favorite. This is an easy 5 star story. The fact that this is Thea's debut novel is a testament to her talent.

The imagery in this book is beautiful. The author paints vivid pictures with her words, and utilizes her vocabulary with purpose. If you enjoy flowery, lyrical writing, you will love Thea's writing style.

I loved that this book was dual POV. Being in with Talasyn's and Alaric's minds was so much fun.

This was a TRUE slow burn.  The tension, the character development and epiphanies we get to be apart of, and even the frustration we feel are all the perfect setup for the most rewarding (and STILL not complete) interaction.

Miscommunication (or rather lack of communication) played a large role in the dynamic between our two main characters, but I found that it added to the story rather than took from it. I felt that it made sense for these characters, with their backgrounds, made false assumptions regarding each other and had a difficult time being honest (even to themselves, much if the time).

While this is based on Reylo fanfic, it definitely stands on its own as an original story. I saw elements of the characters nuses within Talasyn and Alaric, but they still found space to be their own characters.

Overall, this book was beautiful, captivating, and emotional. I laughed, I cried, I giggled while kicking my feet like a schoolgirl. Talasyn and Alaric will live rentfree in my brain for a long time.
