Kyland by Mia Sheridan
4.0

4 Heart-warming Stars

Mia Sheridan takes us to Dennville Kentucky to get to know the people who live up the Appalachian Mountains. The story takes us in the journey of Kyland and Tenleigh, two people who come from the same background and fall madly in love. The people of the Appalachian mountains are extremely poor but have the biggest hearts and those characteristics apply to Kyland and Tenleigh, who I'll refer to as "Kyleigh" throughout the review.

Kyland, our title character, is the epitome of tall and brooding. But he has the biggest, BIGGEST heart I've ever encountered. Throughout the story you see why Kyland does the things he does. You're mad at him for it, but later on you understand why he did it and you fall even deeper in love with him. He is hard-working, intelligent, and has big plans once he wins the Tyton Coal Scholarship.

Tenleigh, is a sweet country girl with family problems of her own. She's just as smart and also has plans for when she wins the scholarship. She's passionate and fragile at times but she shows her strength multiple times.

Kyleigh don't have a rough start, however they have a rough middle. Once they meet it's sunshine and rainbows but something happens and of course with every love story, we think it's over. So many misunderstandings and it's one of the things we get mad at Kyland for, but towards the end you see why he did what he did and it's hard not to swoon!

The only reason I don't give this book 5 stars is because it felt kind of predictable to me, except for one part, who won the scholarship. But the rest of the book, I felt like I knew what was going to happen next. Also, I felt like it dragged out during certain times.

Mia Sheridan has a way of writing characters that are hard to hate. Archer (my favorite), Calder, and now Kyland. Mia is definitely gifted with writing heart-wrenching stories that grab us and take us for an emotional ride and I love the torture.
