I really thought hard about the rating that I gave this book and I’m still not convinced I got it correctly. Brainwyrms was definitely not for the weak but I really enjoyed the meticulous foreshadowing Rumfitt had weaved into the story. I also really liked the fact that the two main characters are deeply unlikable because it makes them feel more real. Trans people or victims don’t need to be perfect for them to have rights and this book perfectly encapsulates that. That being said there were parts of this book I really hated and that almost made me dnf the book. It was a very confusing experience for me. definitely heed the content warning for this one.
