Blazewrath Games by Amparo Ortiz
4.0

Blazewrath Games is set an exciting world much like ours, except magic and dragons are fully integrated into regular life. Those with magic and those without (Regulars) live side-by-side, both aware of the other. Snippets from this world's books introduce relevant pieces about the history of dragons at the beginning of chapters, which are a nice way to get the backstory on where our main character, Lana, finds herself. Ostensibly about an exciting athletic competition in which dragons compete, the book reveals that there is much more to the story: conspiracies, magic, sacrifice. There are wonderful friendships, on and off team, and Lana's relationship with her parents comes across as very genuine. Enjoyable read, and I am glad to hear there will be a sequel!
