From the get go, throne of glass does set itself apart from ACOTAR as a darker and more nuanced story. It has an exciting enough premise that’s overshadowed by weak writing and a lack of character development. The pace takes a while to pick up and the more plot driven elements happen late later in the book and are really quite predictable. Despite all that, the potential for a more exciting world and layered characters can be seen in between the campy dialogues, especially towards the end of the book.
