So You've Been Publicly Shamed
by Jon Ronson
The first half of the book was amazing - worth 5 stars I felt. Some of the horrifying stories about people being shamed publicly for a random tweet or posting a photo were scary. When people shame or attack a person online, they don’t give a thought about that person’s feelings. After being attacked by random strangers on Facebook, I have now completely stopped posting anything on social media. I access it in read only mode when I feel like it once in a while and that’s it. So this book was exactly what I wanted to read. My prof recommended this book to us in a course and I immediately picked it up.
But unfortunately the second half or the last one third of the book was extremely boring about some useless workshop and interviewing “experts” which didn’t really add any value and bored me. Also the author didn’t end the book well. There was no proper conclusion or analysis done on all these public shaming cases that he mentioned in the book. I loved some parts and got bored of other parts so 3 stars it is.
