The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster

One of the best children’s books of all time. This was my favourite book when I was younger and boy does it still stand up. Milo is a delightfully relatable character and his new friends he meets on his adventures are colourful and exciting. I am an especially big fan of the Humbug, I must say. And despite being a book written for children there are some wonderful nuggets of wisdom hidden within its pages.

If I had to pick a favourite quote it would probably be “it’s just as bad to live in a place where what you do see isn’t there as it is to live in one where what you don’t see is.”

Seriously, read this book. It’s great.
