The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin
5.0
Sometimes when I pick up a big book to read that has won a lot of awards I do some research. I read reviews, see what my professional book peddler friends have to say and read up on the author. I started to do this with The Fifth Season and the first review I read was from a friend who while we don't always agree on how much we like a book-I trust completely on her reading advice. She went into this book blindly and was the better for it. So, I put everything down and dove in. She's completely right.
Please just read this and let the book work its magic on you. It is worth it.
The second review on my Goodreads is also from a friend who is also strong in readers' advisory yet the first sentence gave everything away. So, trust no one. LOL. Except, Meagan.
Sorry/not sorry for the lack of review. Just...shoo, go read and enjoy the hell out of this.
