I absolutely loved this book! What appealed to me at first was that the two main characters are almost in their forties. I often read books with protagonists younger than me who I identify with less than people who are in my age range. This was a good first surprise. The second good surprise was the rest of the book: I wasn’t bored for a second.

Of course, I never say no to a little ‘fake dating’ trope, especially when the characters are as interesting and endearing as Erin and Steph. I found myself totally involved in their story along with them. I also loved all the depth of this book when it came to Erin’s family issues and their complicated relationship. Those are situations that speak to me a lot.

I also wanted to talk about the scene with the ashes, which literally made me snort at an emotional moment, since it brought back memories, as this happened to my brother… Twice… And knowing my mother and grandfather, I’m sure that if there is an afterlife, they must have been having a good laugh from where they were.

I really enjoyed Clare Lydon's style of writing and will gladly read more of her books when the opportunity occurs.

I give it a 5/5.

And I highly recommend it.
